Nigerian economy has been said to be an added advantage for Christians to serve God properly. Dr. Femi Aribisala, the pastor of Healing Wings, Chapel of Faith, said this during the recent launch of his controversial book, entitled Why Christians Won t Go To Heaven at the Nigeria institute of International Affairs, Lagos.
Aribisala said the hardship in the country has made Nigeria a wonderful place to be a Christian because according to him, "The more the economy of a country is bad, the more the people will move closer to God. It has been discovered that prosperity takes people away from God while hardship brings them closer to God. However, I must say this, the economic condition of a country is not an excuse for not striving to get to heaven."
The book, is about those little things believers take for granted which might militate against their getting to heaven. The author said that there are certain prophesies in the Bible which may make many Christians not get to heaven. The book, he said, is meant to bring these things out.
Aribisala said his eagerness to get to heaven and his discovery that not many people are aware of the prophesies prompted him to write the book. "The prophesy cannot change, the issue of whether people will get to heaven or not depends on individuals making up their minds on whether they will be there or not."
He urged Nigerians to be self-determined, focused and strive earnestly for the kingdom of God. "If you want to get to heaven you have to strive, you have to struggle and you don t have to be a Sunday, Sunday Christian, you have to be determined don t just say God is inviting you to heaven and you will not make a move to help yourself," Aribisala said.
